Gear Up for Glory: Beginner Tips to Dominate Your First Sim Session at G-FORCE

3/4/2026 · Justice

If you've been eyeing our setup at G-FORCE Racing Lounge but feel like sim racing might be too intense for a first-timer, think again. We've seen plenty of folks walk in as total newbies and leave as track addicts after just one session. With our recent motion upgrades in full swing, now's a prime time to jump in. Here's a straightforward guide to help you nail your debut—straight from the pros who've coached hundreds through their first laps.

Start with the setup: When you sit down in one of our 18 rigs, take a minute to adjust. Slide the seat so your arms are slightly bent on the wheel, and position the pedals where your legs feel natural—no straining. Our staff's always around to help tweak the force feedback to match your comfort level. Too much kick can overwhelm, so dial it back at first and ramp up as you get the hang of it.

Pick the right track and car. Beginners, steer clear of beast-mode circuits like Spa-Francorchamps right off the bat—those elevation changes will toss you around. Go for something forgiving like Brands Hatch or a basic oval to build confidence. As for cars, start with a GT3 or even a road car; they're stable and let you focus on lines without wrestling the wheel every second.

Master the basics: Braking is key—hit it hard but early, then ease off as you turn in. Trail braking (keeping some pressure on the brake into the corner) is a game-changer once you're ready. And apexes? Aim to clip the inside curb late in the turn for the quickest exit. Our sims' motion will let you feel when you're pushing too hard—use that feedback to smooth out your style.

Don't forget the fun factor. Lap times improve with practice, but your first go is about the thrill. Challenge a buddy to a split-screen duel or join one of our casual drop-in sessions. We've got leaderboards to track progress, and yeah, prizes for top improvers each month.

If you're in Westfield and itching to try, swing by anytime. We're open daily, and walk-ins are welcome. Pro tip: Book online to snag a spot during peak hours. Who knows? Your first session might just spark a new obsession.
